Train 30 Sales Staff To Generate Social Media Leads

World Car Nissan Hyundai in San Antonio TX tasked me with helping 30 sales staff to build their brands and start generating their own leads with reels, videos, posts and marketplace listings. The owners of World Car realized they could reduce traditional advertising and pay the sales staff for generating their own leads.

There was a lot of push back in the beginning, but as other sales staff started getting inquires, appointments and sales it all changed. Social media marketing sure beats making cold calls to old leads with a 1% close ratio.

I sat with each person and put together a program based an their experience and existing social sites. Some of the staff had no clue where there social media was or how to even post to it. Many of them were only using social media to watch what others were doing. This first group are complete beginners at social media marketing. Many from this group had no clue how to post, create a reel, video or marketplace listing. I started giving classes and one-on-ones with as many of them as I could each day.

Within the group of 30 there were a few that had already been doing social media marketing on the side and were concerned about the influx of others doing the same thing. I assured them that this would not be a problem. Each person has different friends and different followers and will put out different content.

My favorite group was the staff that really took the ball and ran with it. I saw amazing creativity and talent from people I never expected to be so good.

Some of the interesting people I met while working here:

  • A lady who ran every Monday and Friday with a group of local runners, they ran a few miles then got together to eat and network. She just needed to connect with the 500 members of this running group to sell 20 cars a month.

  • A guy who had never posted to any social media, except he had 920 Linkedin followers from when he was in college not far from San Antonio. He also had won several award while at college that showed up in Google searches. He only needs to work his 920 college buddies to sell 20 cars a month.

  • A guy who had been selling 10 cars a month for 7 years, but was still selling 10 cars a month. He has sold 840 cars over 7 years, he was not working his solds. He wanted nothing to do with social media.

What I learned from this project:

  • Not everyone will embrace Social Media Marketing.
  • Try to connect with folks in your city and metro area.
  • Social Media is a great way to connect with customers over time.
  • Creativity is still King - Be Creative - This will get you views & enquires
  • Remember to Educate & Entertain - This will get you views & enquires
