How To Turn Around An Internet Department Recently I took over an Internet sales department. My first day I realized this department was in big trouble and the store had its worst month in recent history. This Internet sales group had had multiple Internet Managers that did not understand the job and they were extremly frustrated. With 31 days in January the 12 Internet sales people sold only 49 cars combined. This is only 4 cars per month on average.

I Battened Down The Hatches, Pulled The Sails In Tight & Then Sailed As Close To The Wind As Possible.

I started calling, texting and emailing our existing Internet leads until I got a hot prospect. I immediately turned it to one of the sales staff. Soon the other sales staff stopped chit chatting and started calling, texting, emailing and using sites like Facebook, Let Go, Craigslistto generate their own traffic.

January:  No one wanted to work in the Internet department
February: The Internet Team of 10 sold 90 cars in February with only 28 days! This department had never sold 90 units.
March: The Internet Team of 10 sold 130 in March. What a shock this was to everyone at the dealership.
April: Suddenly a lot of the other sales staff now wanted to work in the Internet department.

What was amazing about this group was the assets they had that they were not using.

The Internet close ration was very low, it was very easy to start aggressive follow up with those leads and create a lot of appoinments and sales.

One of the sales staff was a famous local football player in High School and College. He went from 5 sales to 20 sales in one month by simply posting on Facebook everytime he sold a car.

Another sales person has an Automotive Facebook Group in Dallas that had over 100k followers. He started working his Facebook group and started selling 20 cars a month. 

Once some of the staff started selling, everyone got on board and started working or they left the department.
