
There is a lot of interest in using social media to generate leads and sell cars. A famous social media trainer convinced his owner to only hire sales staff with a big following or that were already connected on social platforms.
For 25 years I have been selling and teaching sales staff to build a brand and to sell 20+ cars a month. This is what I found; there are a lot of ways to sell 20 cars a month. Yes, one of them is to use social media.
For many years owners were afraid to let a salesperson build their own brand. What if the salesperson says something dumb, or cusses etc. The sales staff must submit every post to me on, I check every post every day. If there is any problem I go over the basic rules of building your brand inside of the company brand with the salesperson. I want to catch any problems before the owner, corporate or the manufacturer notices.
If you look closely online, you will see sales staff that built a big following by doing dumb stuff. They did get a lot of views but then got kicked out of the dealership and they wonder why.
